Monday Meditation

Unfortunate Coincidence

By the time you swear you're his,
Shivering and sighing,
And he vows his passion is
Infinite, undying-
Lady, make a note of this:
One of you is lying.

~Dorothy Parker

  1. I thought it was a rotting corpse with its tongue in full rigor mortis. Oh well, eye of the beholder and all.

Mother-in-Law had a collection of early editions (possibly first) of Dorothy Parker. Oldest son was bookish and so he has them.

All that love stuff is Only "Make-believe," from Conway Twitty. Wise up, marry money.

  2. Oh I wised up, I'm not going to marry (again)at all. I had second thoughts about the photo this morning but couldn't change it. At 3am it seemed like a wise choice. Perhaps I need to limit my decision making to normal hours rather than the wee small ones of the morning...

  3. Actually, I have that Dorothy Parker book Mumma's talkin' about, took it a long time ago from the attic next door. It's FABULOUS and is loaded with quotes like this.
