Wild Ride

There were many gator rides at Blogfest 2013.
Most were PG rated, fast, bumpy and full of laughs.
But one...
one was more R rated with the speed, bumps and laughs of the other rides
it's just this one in particular was peppered with sailor-speak and badly sung lyrics.
It looked something like this:

 Just in case you're wondering,
these are the appropriate lyrics:

Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light
Those days are over
You don't have to sell your body to the night

Roxanne
You don't have to wear that dress tonight
Walk the streets for money
You don't care if it's wrong or if it's right

Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light
Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light

Roxanne (Put on the red light)
Roxanne (Put on the red light)
Roxanne (Put on the red light)
Roxanne (Put on the red light)
Roxanne (Put on the red light)

I loved you since I knew you
I wouldn't talk down to you
I have to tell you just how I feel
I won't share you with another boy

I know my mind is made up
So put away your make up
Told you once I won't tell you again
It's a bad way

Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light
Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light

Blogfest 2013

There was some hot tubbing
Some water collection from a hole
(the Brat Child says this make CBW "rich")

Some beach time

Some oysters at Merroir
(Let me just say, I hate oysters but
Noe Noe Girl shoved one of these in my mouth and
I ended up ordering my own plate)
Some talks
Some hugging

Some nice scenery

And some wild gator rides.
When can we come back??

Monday Meditation: Blogfest 2013 Edition

“I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than alone in the light.”
~Helen Keller

"I'd rather drive around dirt lanes and people's yards with friends in a speeding gator than maintain a respectable speed on a paved road by myself in a van."
~Me

“There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate.”
~Linda Grayson

"There is nothing better than a friend, unless it's a friend with a gator"
~probably the Brat Child

“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought that no one but myself . . ."”
~C.S. Lewis

Still Standing

I love taking pictures of this tree because of one main reason:
It's been through all kinds of storms and it's still standing.
I like to think it's a metaphor for life.
You go through many trials and tribulations
and heartaches
but you still manage to stand.
Yesterday,
a friend in the blogging community- a "Blister"
lost her husband to cancer.
My thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family
while they grieve.

I Won't Forget

Like many, I won't forget.
And like many more,
I can't find the words to adequately describe
my thoughts and feelings-
even after 12 years.

So, perhaps silence is the best thing.
Or letting pictures speak their thousand words.

Two for Tuesday

Pelican and Tern Aaron's Beach
Wait, it is Tuesday right?
I've been neglecting my blogging.
Vacation came in August and then school
and then suddenly we're heading into the second week of September.
After this week,
I'm hoping things will have died down to a dull roar so I can get back on schedule.
In the meantime,
enjoy this photo of a pelican and a tern
at Aaron's Beach.
(That's the Wolf Trap Light in the distance between the pilings. It's for sale)
